The Youth Poultry Program will be in the Gem and Mineral Building, which is a separate building from the Open and Junior Show Exhibition.
Showmanship: Pre-Registration required with your entry for the Junior Poultry Show.
Sign-in required (7:30 - 8:15 A.M) Saturday on day of show at the Youth Program building. No late sign-ins past 8:15AM on Saturday morning.
Showmanship will begin at 8:30 A.M. For Mini, Novice, Intermediate, Jun-iors and Seniors. Showmanship birds should not be entered in the show.
Showmanship: This event is open to youth in all age/experience divisions. Minis and Juniors will compete first, followed by Intermediate and Seniors.
We ask everyone to be silent during showmanship.
Registration should be done ahead of time with your entry in the Junior Poultry Show. There will be no registration on site for showmanship. Birds used in showmanship must be owned by the competitor, and may NOT be entered in the show. A fee of $5.00 will be charged to help cover cost of the event. Payment can be made with your entry fee in the Junior Poultry Show using the exhibitor entry form.
Age/Experience Divisions:
Novice - Have never, ever competed in Poultry Showmanship.
Minis - 7 and 8 years of age as of January 1, 2025.
Junior - 9 -11 years of age as of January 1, 2025.
Intermediate - 12 -13 years of age as of January 1, 2025.
Senior - 14 -18 years of age as of January 1, 2025.
Awards: Ribbons will be presented to 1st through 10th places in each divi-sion. Additional awards donated by GCSPF Members
Judging Standard: Free copy of the 4-H Poultry Showmanship National Standard For anyone who has yet to obtain a copy of the “How to do poultry showmanship the proper way,” also known as Publication 4-H 2060E, you need to visit: http://anrcatalog.ucanr.edu/ and click on “4-H Youth Develop-ment,” next click on “4-H Poultry Showmanship,” and you will see the Poul-try Showmanship Manual. Download it today. You cannot correctly prepare and compete in Poultry Showmanship without studying this manual.
Dress: 4-H or FFA uniforms are not required, but competitors will be scored on neatness.
Please remain silent while Youth Show is in progress.
